Introduction Vincent Goh Peng Boon formed the first Young Christian Students ( YCS ) cell group in Singapore in 1956 . Little did he know that YCS would grow into the movement it is today .

Circle of Carolers
YCS is a national movement that spans 7 schools , including SNGS , Montfort , and of course SJI . We teach youths who enter YCS how to see the world in a different light , through the philosophy of “ See , Judge , Act ”. This encourages members to judge the world correctly and not in an overly negative way . YCS teaches them how to love their neighbours and not to discriminate others . It also allows members to share opinions and thoughts about themselves and the world around them . By starting each session off with prayer and a rosary session , we can keep in mind what God would do throughout the entire session .
Praise and Worship within SJI This activity allowed us to grow closer to God through varied forms of worship . It also allows us to take a break from hectic school life and just play with friends . This lets us bond with each other and with God . The YCS community in SJI lets us deepen our faith and strengthen our fellowship .
Deep and meaningful reflection
Other Events YCS also has events that cultivate friendships between people from different schools . There are National events every two months or so , as well as camps . During these events , we play and learn with and from each other , which lets us grow and create friendships . We also have sharings and talks from special speakers , letting us grow in our relationship with God . We also help other communities in need through visits to their places , like old folks ’ homes .
Through National and SJI-based YCS sessions , we can increase our relations with each other and with God .
YCS members blown away by our amazing events !
