GREEN CLUB

In alignment to SJI ’ s Catholic teachings that Man must protect the Earth from which he derives sustenance , the Green Club continues to push and advance its agenda of raising environmental awareness at SJI . Admittedly , it is a very difficult goal to reach as many students have been too used to having many things done for them that they sometimes forget they have an important role to play .

Nonetheless , we pressed on . A critical link in SJI ’ s Green Journey is the teacher . The teacher is the Mentor , the Compass , the Steward and the Role Model . Much of what has been achieved over the years @ SJI can be attributed to the effort and dedication of the teachers : “ They hold things together …” The attitudes that rub off and develop in the students , now and hereafter , to a very great extent will depend on the nurturing hand of the teachers . As Mother Teresa herself acknowledged , “ I alone cannot change the world , but I can cast a stone across the waters to create many ripples .”
