National Inter-School Sailing Championships
The sailing season has been another eventful and exciting year for SJI Sailing . Guided by Coach Fendi , our sailors continue to display determination during training . Despite the keen competition in the numerous regattas throughout the year , the sailors managed to clinch a few trophies .
The National Inter-School Sailing Championships 2013 held from 17 to 20 April began with a mixture of light and strong winds . Eagerly anticipating competition against perennial rivals , the ‘ B ’ Division sailors tried to overcome all challenges and hardship with passion .
Our ‘ B ’ Division fleet comprising Ian Chai ( 411 ), Nicholas Wee ( 402 ), Tan Yang Yi ( 409 ), Kieran Tan ( 410 ), Joshua Chow ( 404 ), Edward Tan ( LE 302 ), Joshua Tan ( LE 303 ) and Max Koh ( LE 303 ) kept to the race and team strategies with much effort . After two days of exhausting races , they achieved 5th placing in the team event .
Our ‘ C ’ Division sailors , consisting of a team of seven byte sailors , namely : Benedict Leong ( LE 202 ), Mark Wee ( MN 203 ), Jerald Ha ( LE 201 ) ), Zachary Lim ( FN 102 ) as well as optimist sailors Keagan Tan ( FN 103 ) and Dylan Lye ( MN 203 ) worked well in attaining the 3rd position in the team event .
The Josephian spirit remains prevalent among team members , teachers and parents . Once again , the teachers Mrs Nicole Khoo , Mr Nathan and our coach Fendi have helped bring about greater bonding among the sailors as well as impart valuable lessons during training .
