2013 has been a year of new beginnings .
We welcomed girls to be part of our Lasallian family here in SJI when the senior school started its operations on 6 February . With the establishment of the pre-university section of our school that offers the International Baccalaureate Diploma programme ( IBDP ), the demographics of our students changed but brought along with it opportunities for collaboration between the senior school and the secondary school .
While the secondary school has a distinct Josephian culture , the senior school , being new , will have to build its Josephian culture . The challenge for the senior school is in integrating students from other secondary schools in a short span of two years . With committed and dedicated staff and the presence of Josephians among the JC 1 students , this establishment of a Josephian culture for the senior school will likely be achieved over the next few years . Despite having two schools within SJI , both schools will continue to share resources , where necessary and to provide each other support where required .
The introduction of fraternities : Fintan , Lawrence , Michael and Marcian will help facilitate in forming a stronger school culture in the secondary school . As the naming of the classes within each fraternity is randomized such that the numbering of the classes does not indicate whether a particular class is IP track or ‘ O ’ level track , it is hoped that over time as the students in the fraternities move up the educational levels , they will identify more with their respective fraternities than with the tracks which they are on .

Concurrently a dual track education programme comprising the four-year ‘ O ’ level track alongside the 6-year Integrated Programme ( IP ) track was launched . Our IP track is essentially a 4-year secondary education programme integrated with a two-year IBDP .
