The Legion of Mary is a Catholic society dedicated to prayer and serving the community around us , with our thought , word and deed inspired by our Holy Mother . The first praesidium of SJI , Seat of Wisdom , was founded in 1952 , for the purpose of bringing the Catholic students in the school into a prayerful community and leading them into a deeper awareness and understanding of their faith , as well as an active participation in the work of Mother Mary and the Church . This single praesidium has expanded into the four that we have now : Seat of Wisdom ( SOW ), Our Lady of Good Counsel ( OLGC ), Ark of the Covenant ( AOC ) and Queen of All Saints ( QOAS ).

Building Men of Faith , Service and Community Members of each praesidium , as part of a faith community , meet once every week to mutually facilitate and nurture each other ’ s faith through communal prayer . At every meeting , legionaries report about their Christian living through being witnesses to

the faith in their thought , word and deed , to the best of their abilities . The meeting , although structured in nature , allows for fun and fellowship to flourish as we understand each other and more about the faith more deeply , and sometimes through hilarity .

The sustenance of prayer life in the school is brought to fruition as every Legion of Mary praesidium leads each of the four Morning Prayers we have every week . Through the chanting of the Psalms , the proclamation and the breaking of the Word , legionaries do their best to bring Christ to those present . These legionaries are also responsible for the preparation of the Wednesday masses , as well as on special feast days and school occasions .

In this spirit of community , legionaries , in fellowship with members of the other Catholic societies , organize the Catholic Societies Camp ( CSC ) for the Secondary Ones to interact with members of their societies and understand more about the faith in this
