Micromouse has been a part of the Singapore scene for over 20 years . The micromouse , an autonomous robot , solves complex mazes by exploring it , then finding the shortest path to the goal . The robotʼs algorithms involve artificial intelligence , and the programming required for it is hard work .

Splash Award 2012 - 1st This competition is jointly organised by the Singapore Computer Society and Microsoft , aimed at creating a concept of a Windows Phone 7 application in the 3 topics of Healthcare , Gaming , and Education . The winners are Jonathan Soong ( 101 ), Matthew Chan ( 112 ) and Daniel Lee ( 202 ) ( with Raphael Ong ( 426 ) and Tan E-Liang ( 421 ) as mentors )

National StrITwise Challenge 2012 - 1st and 3rd The National StrITwise Challenge is a 3 day 2 night camp leading up to a prototype design of a Windows Phone 7 application . Having the theme revealed only one day before the presentation , teams had to work hard and late into the night . The team that came in first consisted of Damian Chen Hong Kai ( 306 ), Brian Chua Siong Jie ( 108 ), Sum Yuan Long ( 207 ), Willy Wai Yan Oo ( 105 ), Nicholas Tarino , and Matthew Wong Kai En ( 201 ), winning a Nokia Lumia 610 each . The team that came in third consisted of Daniel Lee Ming Qiang ( 202 ), Jonathan Soong Wei ( 101 ), Lim Zheng Wei Trevor ( 312 ), Cedric Chin Zhihao ( 106 ) and Lim Fern Hui ( 205 ), winning a hundred dollar Challenger voucher each .

UK TechFest 2012 - 1st The UK TechFest , held at the Birmingham City University , attracted competitors all over the world , including America , the United Kingdom , and of course , Singapore . Picking up the work right after the mid-year examinations , selected students worked right through the whole June holidays . Lim Zhengwei Trevor emerged champion .

Singapore Robotic Games 2012 - 4th The competition uses the picomouse , developed by Ngee Ann Polytechnic , which is a smaller version of the micromouse . After programming and fine-tuning it , the teams ’ robots explored a maze before racing to the centre .
