National Police Cadet Corps ( NPCC )

The unified efforts of SJI NPCC since 1971 have finally seen fruition as the unit surges forth in the 21st century . Initially , the unit struggled to cope with the changes and the foundation that had to be established . Subsequently , the next two decades saw the growth of the unit and the new challenge of bringing SJI NPCC to greater heights . The recent years finally brought SJI NPCC to its peak of success , a point of paramount significance . In the course of these 41 years , the hard work of SJI NPCC has transformed it to a stalwart unit of estimable repute . To date , SJI NPCC has produced the most number of Cadet Inspectors ever .

Achievements In 2012 , SJI ’ s National Police Cadet Corps ( NPCC ) unit has once again achieved the gold award in the Unit Overall Proficiency Award ( UOPA ), the highest possible level of achievement that can be awarded to NPCC units every year . This prestigious award is only presented to units who have shown great achievement . This is proof of the high standards the unit has demonstrated throughout the entire year . Moreover , four Secondary 4 cadets have attained the highly coveted SPF-NPPC badge for showing exemplary performance in all aspects of
NPCC . This is a record number of badge awardees in the history of SJI NPCC .
Volunteers Our success can also be attributed to the participation of all our officers and cadet leaders , who have given their all to ensure the unit has triumphed . Joining this dedicated group are Cadet Inspectors Ian Tjahjono and Wong Jian Zhi , who will definitely carry the unit to greater heights .
Unfortunately , CI Tan Ci Kang will be leaving us this year . We wish him all the best in all of his future endeavours .
SJI NPCC Unit Training Camp ( UTC ) To better prepare cadets for their time in NPCC , Secondary Two and Three cadets participated in the UTC . They worked together to overcome numerous obstacles , learning valuable life lessons such as teamwork , perseverance and coordination . On the other hand , the Secondary One cadets participated in the Fun Camp . Subject to rigorous physical and mental training , they bonded greatly with one another through the many activities they had and discovered more about themselves through this experience . These two camps have definitely portrayed the great amounts of camaraderie within the entire unit .
Changes to the Hierarchy SJI NPCC participated in the Passing Out Ceremony and SJI ’ s 160th Anniversary Parade which both signified the change of command from the Secondary Four cadets to the Secondary Three cadets . Two new departments , the Training ( Development ) Department and Publicity and Publications Department were created to better facilitate the running of the NPCC unit . This also helped to provide more opportunities for cadets to demonstrate their leadership potential .
Onward , with gusto 2012 has been an extremely fulfilling year for the SJI NPCC unit thanks to the undying support of our cadets , volunteers and other individuals who have contributed greatly to the unit . The unit will continue in its quest to develop its cadets to their full potential of being responsible , caring citizens , men of integrity , and men for others , throughout their 4 years of journey in the SJI NPCC .
