Our 2019-2020 Achievements Joseph Brant Hospital’s 2017 – 2022 Strategic Plan guides our journey of continuous improvement – it is the catalyst for our plans, our progress and our achievements from the past year. Our strategic directions are: 1. Relentlessly pursue excellence in quality and patient safety. We will continue to meet and exceed our ambitious goals to advance towards the highest level of quality and safety, provide for exceptional patient and family/caregiver experiences, and meet the needs for operational efficiency and effectiveness. 2. Inspire and empower a culture of caring We succeed through the unwavering dedication of our physicians, staff, learners and volunteers, and their ability to understand and share in the experiences of our patients and their families/caregivers. As a community teaching hospital, we remain committed to continuously enhancing our culture of care that is innovative and focused on building on the strengths of our people and working with those we serve. 3. Collaborate to deliver an outstanding care experience. We will enhance coordination of our internal patient care activities to improve our overall delivery of services. As well, we will engage in collaborative planning efforts with our local and sub-region partners across the continuum of care to provide more streamline and patient-oriented services to realize better health outcomes for our patients and community. These are highlights of how we advanced these areas in 2019 – 2020: EXPANSION OF THE MRI PROGRAM In 2018, JBH embarked on a project to expand the MRI (Magnetic Resonance Imaging) program, with the addition of two new MRI units. This project was completed in early 2020, following the installation of the two MRI units. The two additional MRI units enable JBH to perform a wider spectrum of MRI services not previously available in Burlington, including breast and prostate imaging. The new machines have a larger sized bore and a built-in theatre system, which projects virtual reality images inside the bore, reducing claustrophobia and patient anxiety. This means more accurate diagnoses for patients, more detailed information for physicians, and better health outcomes for our patients. 4 Joseph Brant Hospital
