Complete Breast Care Program:
Sheila’s Story
“If somebody is told they are going to have a
biopsy, they meet me and from that moment
on, I become their new best friend through the
process,” says Trisha Hamilton, RN and Patient
Navigator for Joseph Brant Hospital’s Complete
Breast Care Program, pictured left. “I never felt alone because I knew I had Trisha’s
support. She gave me clear timelines regarding
results, and always helped to ease my worries.”

Joseph Brant Hospital’s Complete Breast Care
Program provides support to patients as they
navigate a potential breast cancer diagnosis, from
the initial testing to the final diagnosis, surgery
options, post-recovery and treatment plans. An
expert team works together to examine patient
results, determine treatment paths and provide
the best care for each and every patient. “I am so happy with the care and
comfort I received at Joseph Brant
Hospital. They were able to make
a scary situation more relaxed due
to their trained and supportive staff
members.”
Sheila was a patient in the Complete Breast
Care Program program after finding a lump in
her breast.
At the beginning of the assessment, she was
introduced to her patient navigator, Trisha, who
walked beside Sheila every stage of her journey,
as a familiar face, a knowledgeable resource and
a support system. “I’m there with our patients,
they can call me and we figure it out together,”
shares Trisha. “From booking appointments, to
connecting with the right community supports,
discussing symptom management or how to share
the news with her family, Sheila and I worked
together to ensure she felt supported physically
and emotionally, each step of the journey.”
“She was available to answer any questions I had,
whether in person or over the phone,” explained
Sheila. “I knew that I could rely on her for all of the
important information I needed, and it made me
feel a lot more comfortable with the process.”
the stress of waiting and aims to get patients
their results as quickly as possible. Appointments
are made for a follow-up at the time of the
initial testing, no matter if the results are good
or bad. This helps patients to continue living their
day-to-day lives instead of waiting anxiously for
a phone call.

To my new best friend Trisha, you have more
