Celebrating Multiculturalism and Tolerance in College of Alfragide: Day of Azerbaijan.
Cultural activities promoted by University of Lusofona and Baku International Centre of Multiculturalism were held in College of Alfragide on December 15, 2015. The event including rich cultural program marked “Day of Azerbaijan” in the College. The Program consisting of 2 theoretical and 3 practical study cases was contributed by generally about 60 students as well as teachers. The topics on Azerbaijani multiculturalism, language, traditions, music, folk dance and art were covered the educational schedule of the Day. The Director of the College of Alfragide prof. Jose Romao and representative of Baku International Centre of Multiculturalism, prof. Mayya Jafarguliyeva mentioned in their speeches the importance of intercultural dialogue in education and tolerance in modern world. Different cultural activities launching through the one-day program was based on a platform to provide the students an opportunity to express their talents and enhancing of cultural knowledge. Students and teachers participated in theoretical and practical activities contributing to the improvement of intercultural dialog between Portugal and Azerbaijan.
The ideas of friendship and enriching of cultural values through the education were the main themes of the Day of Azerbaijan. The event was held in the air of friendship, mutual respect and big interest to the culture of Azerbaijan.
The program was ended with the creation of “Carpet of Friendship” and friendly tea ceremony with Azerbaijani sweets.
