The first exhibit she gained acceptance into was the exclusive annual competition , Tea Bowl National , in Kansas City . She then began racking up more acceptances into national competitions . Two years ago , she was accepted into yet another exclusive exhibit , Strictly Functional in Lancaster , Pennsylvania , a competition she had applied to for several years before gaining entry .
“ That was on my bucket list ,” she says . “ No one from this area has ever gotten into it .”
Another feather in her cap came last year when her work was featured in the October issue of “ Ceramics ,” a national monthly magazine .
She kicked off this year ’ s slate of exhibits with her solo show at PSU and she ’ s also been accepted into two exhibits in Gainesville , Florida , one of them by invitation as the featured artist .
“ I ’ m proud of my ceramics ,” she says . “ If I had gone into painting , I wouldn ’ t have felt this . Clay speaks to me .”
