Younger, who also created income tax- and inspirational and legendary Prime Minister Winston Churchill, who owned and rented various Mayfair properties and even sheltered in the disused underground station in Down Street during the Second World War during the aerial bombardment of London.
A NEW FIBRE NETWORK FOR LONDON
As well as offering some of the UK’ s best-known fashion houses and luxury hotels and shops, Mayfair is now set to be one of the best areas for small businesses to receive ultrafast broadband, thanks to a new company called G. Network, which is building its own exclusive fibre to the premises network. They are delivering ultra-fast( up to 10Gbps) connectivity directly into the premises of small and medium enterprise( SME) businesses in the Mayfair area- many of which have already expressed a voracious appetite for fibre. Although as an ISP G. Network is less than a year old, it has big ambitions and has already broken ground in Mayfair, having been working with senior FTTH planners at John Henry Group’ s national FTTx office in Brighton and representatives from John Henry Group head office in Cambridge, to deliver genuine fibre broadband to Mayfair’ s many SME businesses which occupy the district’ s black victorian iconic street front properties. The business is the brainchild of David Sangster and Sasho Veselinski, who both have many years’ experience in the B2B telecoms marketplace. As David explains,“ the demand for better internet access, especially for businesses across the UK is well understood but perhaps less well known is that Central London, as a whole, is one of the worst served parts of the country.“ Mayfair, in particular, has poor broadband speeds and reliability and this is starting to impact the productivity of businesses there as fast internet access becomes essential.“ G. Network is one of a new breed of Internet Service Providers who recognise this and we are laying fibre optic directly into premises. This means we can offer speeds up to 10Gbps.“ Much of the existing broadband in Central London is fibre to the street cabinet and then copper from the cabinet to the premises and this limits speed and reliability.“ G. Network is also deploying our own ducting for our fibre which is important for resilience of service.“ Our initial focus is Central London, particularly boroughs of Westminster and City of London, focussing on the needs of London’ s small and medium sized business community.” John Henry Group was initially approached by G. Network in November 2015 when the company asked for advice in relation to the ease of designing and building a new fibre network in the capital. As with any major utilities scheme, working in London has been an incredibly complex project due to traffic management and extensive, important engagement with local authorities. John Henry Group’ s experience of working in the capital has allowed fibre teams from John Henry Biscomm and civils teams from John Henry Comms to add significant expertise to G. Network’ s plans to build tens of kilometres of fibre in the capital per year. Established relationships based on many years of working in the capital with local authorities have allowed John Henry Group to make waves into trialling specially developed narrow trenching techniques in the city – which should help to achieve significant commercial and time savings when building new network in the capital.
“ G. Network is aiming to be the next generation communications service provider exclusively focussed on Central London”
