Monday, 21st January 2019 Today is our first day, so we get up early and meet at the Rahlgasse Grg6, the Secondary School we’re going to visit during our job shadowing. It’s in Vienna’s city center, just by the Museums Quartier ​ , we’re so excited! THE SCHOOL: AHS Rahlgasse is a secondary school (​ www.ahs-rahlgasse.at​ ), situated in the city centre of Vienna. Founded in 1892 it was the first secondary school for girls in Austria and since 1978/79 the school is open for girls and boys. The specific focus of the school is: general education with a focus on ​ gender equality, environmental and social issues: “GUS” GRg 6 Rahlgasse provides a general education in natural and social sciences, art and humanities but also in physical education which lasts eight years. Their students are between 10 and 18 years old. Before leaving school, the students have to take their final exams (written and oral) which give access to University (Matura). 1
