Review the company’s background, core values and mission statement.
Read recent press releases/trade or business publications to attain an insight
on projected growth and stability.
Use social media such as LinkedIn, Facebook and Twitter to research the
interview panel. These are excellent social media tools to help you further
your understanding of their names, roles and responsibilities within the
company.
Telephone and speak to the person advertising the job to establish further
details. Ask if you can arrange to visit their department in person to find out
more information about the role. This will also give you a great opportunity
to see where you could be possibly working and potentially meet your new
team!
Create a list of questions you might want to ask the panel at the end of the
interview, regarding the role or the company you are applying for.
Ensure that you are thoroughly prepared for your interview!
It would be beneficial if you could try to think of what the qualities, experience and
skills your new employer will be looking for in you and your evidence during your
interview. These will be used by the interview panel to compare and match the
requirements of the role and to see if you are the best suited person for the job.
Remember, when you walk into the interview room, try to imagine yourself
already doing the role as this will help you focus on the position you are being
interviewed for. It will also help you relate your evidence better to the role too.
Demonstrate your skills and abilities well and try to think of the questions that the
interview panel will ask you.
Most importantly, enjoy your interview as this will help you relax!
The interview panel will know that you are going to be nervous; it’s natural to feel
like this, but remember, they want you to do your best and to do well!
