Writing your application form
Be realistic! Are you actually trained/capable of doing this job?!
You need to ensure that your existing skills, training, qualifications and experience
are equivalent to, or are greater than those required/advertised for the role.
You may need to consider if your skills and qualifications are still current and
valid! You may need to do some research to update your skills, or retrain.
If you don’t have a particular skill now, is this something that you can work
towards for the future in your own time? For example, attend a college course.
If you were successful for the role, are there opportunities available for you to
learn these skills through your new employer? For example, on the job training,
apprenticeships or work experience?
Allow plenty of time to complete your application!
Writing your application and evidencing your experience and skills will take a few
days to write.
Think about how to construct your evidence using the STAR Method
Pay attention to detail and be succinct and concise in your writing.
Delete any waffle in your application!
Write using professional ‘business style wording’ and in the third party!
