Your plan of action
So, you’ve seen a job that you are interested in applying for and are now
considering whether or not you have the right skills to do it!
Before you even get to this point, there are a few things that you should be
considering:
What is your goal?
What is the purpose for you applying for this role?
What do you want to do/achieve?
Are you looking for a career change or are you just looking to get out of an
existing job?
Do you have a long term goal?
Where do you see yourself in five years’ time?
How are you going to obtain the training, qualifications, skills, and
experience to do this job?
Would you consider attending a course/college/university to study further?
Are you considering work experience/apprenticeships/learning on the job?
Would you consider a cut in pay to be happier?
It is important to have a plan as this will help you identify any gaps in your
knowledge and experience for the role. It will also allow you to focus on the next
steps that are required for you to develop yourself further to achieve your goal.
