Plan what to wear
Think about your overall presentation and how you look to others.
Use the mirror to help you, and ask friends/family on how you look.
Appearance and smell is paramount. Therefore, dress smartly.
Colour coordinate your clothes accordingly.
Business attire is appropriate for most interviews, with neutral colours.
Do not wear loud overpowering colours! They can distract the interview
panel and send out the wrong message about you and your dress sense, as you
want to appear professional and be taken seriously.
Do not wear overpowering perfume or aftershave! You want to leave an
impression of how good you performed during the interview, not how good
you smelt! It can also give the panel a headache, not a good impression either.
Do not wear jeans! This is inappropriate for the majority of interviews and is
considered bad interview etiquette. It shows disrespect to the interview
process and the panel as they will be wearing business attire for you, and to
promote and represent the professional standards of the company.
However, there are some employers that don’t mind you wearing jeans to an
interview, but this really depends on the nature of the business and the type of
work that you are applying for.
Always use your common sense to decide what is the most appropriate
clothes to wear at your interview.
Dress to impress! Be sure that your overall appearance is neat, wrinkle free
and clean!
