JMAGAZINE August 2014 | Page 4

JR: What was your favorite cosplay character that you like to cosplay the most? Why?

K: Definitely Zero. I personally think the hair color suits me the most haha, but in addition, I just enjoy being silly while cosplaying him because he’s such a serious character in the actual series, so I like to poke fun at that. But I think in general, I’m very drawn to cosplaying characters that wear military uniforms, although I haven’t done much yet. I just admire uniforms a lot haha.

JR: Your fan page has reach more then 3,000 likes, how do you feel about that?

K: Truthfully, overwhelmed haha. Compared to some of my friends, 3000 isn’t a lot, but I’m still very overwhelmed and I feel grateful that that many people are willingly following me.

JR: You just don’t do cosplay base on your gender but you also do male cosplay, what is that you like when you do male cosplay?

K: I mainly like the clothes. I think male clothing in many series are very comfortable and fashionable!

JR: Do you cosplay for fame or do you do it for your own pleasure?

K: For my own pleasure. I think fame is just something that comes with it like a “side perk” and I think that’s what most cosplayers lose sight of once they start gathering a “following.” They start aiming for more fame, rather than the real goal which is to cosplay for your own enjoyment. I think I do a lot of characters that aren’t that well known and cosplay from series that are considered “old” now. But all of that doesn’t matter because if I have fun cosplaying that character, then that’s all that matters to me.

JR: Do you prefer male or female cosplaying?

K: I prefer male because I’m more drawn to male characters in a series and can relate to them better, but I’m still open on cosplaying female characters if I’m drawn to them as well.

JR: You are well known for sticking out your tongue on your videos, how did that came about?

K: Haha I don’t know about “well known.” I just do it because it makes my jaw line look better in photos/video.

JR: In Japan someone who likes cosplaying or like anime keeps it secrete from their friends and family, do you also keep it a secrete or you just don’t care who knows? Why?

K: My family and all my friends know I like anime and that I cosplay. I keep it a secret from my professional life though. I don’t think it would be very good if a future employer or a current boss sees some of the photos of me in cosplay because some are slightly “sexual” in nature haha. I think I wouldn’t mind telling my boss if my career was in the arts, but since it’s not, I think keeping it a secret is for the best.

JR: What was your first anime? And what was it that you like about it?

K: The first anime I watched, knowing that it was anime, was Naruto haha. I liked the characters and I liked how there was an actual plotline compared to Western cartoons that usually have separate episodes that have no connectivity.
