to‐ground activity , ground training by various DOD agencies is conducted at the Range including use of the MOUT . The DCR Electronic Combat Range is provided upon request for the training of all agencies .
Operations on the Range occur between 8:00 AM to 10:00 PM every Monday through Thursday , and Friday from 8:00 AM to 6:00 PM .
3.6 Military Footprint
Mission and testing activities conducted by Seymour Johnson AFB and the DCR generate a number of impacts that can affect the health , safety , and overall quality of life in the surrounding communities and areas of overflight . It should be noted that the 4 FW airspace in North Carolina is used by Active Duty , Reserve , and Guard units in the US Air Force , US Army , US Navy , and US Marine Corps . Locally , these units are from MCAS Cherry Point , Shaw AFB , Langley AFB , NAS Oceana , Naval Station Norfolk , MCAS Camp Lejeune , Moody AFB , Andrews AFB , Warner Robbins AFB , MCAS Beaufort , MCAS New River , NAS Patuxent River , and Fort Bragg . Some units with long range bombers and command and control aircraft are able to launch and recover at their home station and include Barksdale AFB , Minot AFB , Offutt AFB , and Tinker AFB . Joint Tactical Air Controller ( JTAC ) units travel to the Dare County Range for Close Air Support training with F‐15Es , F‐18s , A‐10s , F‐16s , and F‐ 22s . The JTAC units within the Continental United Sates include , but are not limited to , Ft . Knox , Ft . Hood , Ft . Hood , Ft , Lewis , Ft . Polk , and Ft Drum . The JTAC units that travel from outside the Continental United States include Schofield Barracks Hawaii , Cumbria United Kingdom , Camp Red Cloud Korea , Vicenza Italy , and Heidelberg Germany .
Examples of these mission impacts within the JLUS Study Area include noise and vibration from overhead flights or the risk of an aircraft accident . Conversely , the military mission is susceptible to hazards created by certain nearby civilian activities and land use development that may obstruct air space or locate noise sensitive uses in high noise zones . Understanding the
overlapping spatial patterns of these impacts wi areas is essential for promoting compatible and
