the southern impact area for the Air Force. The DCR, a composite day and
night use facility, is an air‐to‐ground range for simulated special and
conventional weapons delivery. Live, high explosive ordnance is not
authorized at DCR. The DCR supports various types of training activities
including air‐to‐surface bombing and gunnery, electronic combat, Joint
Tactical Air Control, tactical ground maneuvers and small arms. Table 3‐2
provides the estimated annual operations for aircraft at DCR for 2010 divided
between Air Force and Navy aircraft.

F-15E
The F‐15E is a two‐seat multi‐role version of the air superiority fighter F‐15
that is operated by the 333rd, 334th, 335th and 336th Squadrons. The F‐15E
is capable of low altitude navigation and infrared targeting for night
operations. There are 94 F‐15E’s stationed at Seymour Johnson AFB.

KC-135R
The KC‐135R is a Stratotanker aircraft with the ability to carry approximately
200,000 pounds of fuel for aircraft to carry out worldwide missions and
operations. The KC‐135R is measured 136 feet long with a 130 foot wingspan.

Range Operations
The DCR provides air to surface target training that is utilized by both the
Navy and Air Force. Though owned by the USAF, the DCR provides air and
ground training for various US military and foreign forces, special operations
groups, and air control units. The Range is separated into nine sub areas with
two weapon impact areas: the northern impact area for Navy operations and

The 4th FW is the principal Air Force user of DCR utilizing the F‐15E.
Additional users include F‐16s from Washington, D.C., Virginia, South
Carolina, and New Jersey National Guard, along with F‐18s from Naval Air
