There have been a number of economic development opportunities such as
eco‐tourism and wind energy development projects that have been impacted
by the military operations and vice versa, that potentially have been
impacting military operations in the area. A no tolerance position for these
types of developments can mean significant loss of economic benefit and
diversity to the area. In addition, this position does not allow for a balanced
economy between the DOD / federal government and other industry sectors
that could potentially have a lucrative result throughout the northeast North
Carolina area.
