Seymour Johnson AFB has steadily increased their use in the various
airspaces that comprise DCR, in addition to the MOAs and MTRs in and
around northeast North Carolina. Several civilian airports are located within
the JLUS Study Area and are impacted by military airspace in the region.
Warren Field Airport
Warren Field Airport is a publicly owned airport located in Washington
County, approximately 70 miles east of Seymour Johnson AFB. The airport
has, on average, approximately 47 general operations per day, with
47 percent local general aviation, 24 percent transient general aviation, and
29 percent military. With a high level of military use, Warren Field is a
military asset for the area. A concern was raised during the JLUS process
regarding the military use of the airport and impact from the vibration
created by the aircraft.

Dare County Regional Airport
Dare County Regional Airport is a public airport located one mile northwest
of the central business district of the Town of Manteo in Dare County on
Roanoke Island. Operations in 2014 totaled 16,950, with 59 percent air taxi,
40 percent general aviation, and one percent military. There were 94 aircraft
based at the airport in 2014. The airport is approximately 11 miles northeast
of the DCR.

Approximately 9 miles north of the VR‐073 MTR which has an
operating floor of 100 ft. AGL.
This location limits the expansion of the Dare County Regional Airport.
Hyde County Airport
Hyde County Airport is a county‐owned public use airport located
approximately seven miles north of the Engelhard community and
approximately six miles southwest of the DCR.
The Hyde County Airport is proximate to the following military airspaces:
Within the VR‐054 and VR‐071 MTRs which have an operating floor of
100 ft. AGL.
Approximately 6 miles east of the VR‐073 MTR which has an operating
floor of 100 ft. AGL.
Approximately 10 miles west of the VR‐084 MTR with an operating
floor of 100 ft. AGL.
Approximately 6 miles west of the R‐5313B Restricted Area with an
operating floor of 100 ft. AGL.
Approximately 1.5 miles south of the R‐5314B Restricted Area with an
operating floor of 500 ft.
