Letter from the CEO
LABOR DAY IS behind us, but let’s not forget
the amazing membership appreciation picnic
we all enjoyed out by the pool. More than
900 members and friends joined us for a funfilled, sun-filled, hot-dog-filled day. We truly
appreciate all of you and your support for The
J. If you missed it this year, there is always
next year - we’ll just order more hot dogs!
The High Holy Days are upon us. The traditional
challah that we eat on Rosh HaShanah is
round, symbolizing the seamless transition
from one year to the next, each layer building
on the one before. Here at the Tucson J we
are no different; we continually explore ways
to build on our success and learn from our
challenges.

This fall there is an air of excitement! Our
membership is at the highest level since
August 2003; Camp J had more than 500
children enjoying an amazing summer; our
ECE program has more than 300 children
enrolled and our program offerings continue
to expand!
The J magazine you are reading has a new
name, J Life, and we have just converted
to a new member database system. As the
seasons and years go round and round, we
continue to grow. Our true strength comes for
each of you.
Please mark your calendars for Sunday,
October 16! Join us at The J for our third annual
Family Wellness Festival presented by Tucson
Medical Center. Each year the festival grows
with new exhibitors and specialists offering
health and wellness tips to the community. It
is educational, inspiring and most of all, fun
for the whole family.
Our J is a place where we can all live up to our
goals, live up to our dreams, and live up to our
aspirations — small or large. Our J is like a tent
open on all four sides, welcoming people in and
actively going out into the community to seek
engagement and connection.
Check out our website, tucsonjcc.org. We hope
that you find it easier to navigate and will use
it often to stay up to date and be involved in
all that we do at The J.
We have developed a new service pledge
that we would like to share with you: "We
create community based on Jewish Values by
providing the highest quality programs and
services in a safe and secure environment for
all people of all ages."
I look forward to seeing you around The J
and in our community as we work together to
continue to build our future!
Please feel free to share your thoughts and
ideas. You can call me at 299–1904 or write me
at [email protected].
