THIS PAST SUMMER
the Tucson J sent a
delegation of 13 teen
athletes to Columbus,
Ohio to compete in the
national JCC Maccabi
Games. Our athletes
competed in basketball,
soccer, and baseball.
Tucson earned the silver
medal in basketball
and collectively earned eight ‘midot’ medals for exhibiting positive
Jewish values. Our team’s community service projects included
playing with children with special needs, facilitating Special
Olympics for adults and personal engagement of elders in their
care center. When not playing sports or assisting in the community,
our teens enjoyed carnivals, entertainment parks, gigantic dance
parties and meeting hundreds of other teens throughout the
country!
The JCC Maccabi Games are a summer experience open to all Jewish
teenagers ages 13-16. We are all very excited about the summer
of 2017 when Tucson will take another delegation to Birmingham,
Alabama from July 30-August 4.
