Music Department:
Homework:
• Band / Chorus / Orchestra: Students are expected to practice their assigned music at home.
• General Music: If the student is absent or falls behind in classwork, the student is expected to complete work at home or after school. Students are also expected to spend time studying and preparing for tests.
Evaluation:
• Band / Chorus / Orchestra: o 50 % performance assessments; 40 % classwork; 10 % homework. Students are expected to attend all performances.
• General Music: o 20 % performance assessment; 20 % classwork; 20 % projects; 20 % participation;
20 % tests.
Writing Assignments:
• Band / Chorus / Orchestra: o Students will write critiques of musical performances. o They are expected to use the vocabulary taught both in conversation and writing.
• General Music: o Incorporated in projects, reports, and notebooks. o They are expected to use the vocabulary taught both in conversation and writing.
Physical Education Department
All students begin with a grade of 100. Final grades are determined based on the following categories:
• Participation – 60 %
• Tests / Quizzes – 40 %
Participation Expectations( 60 %) Full effort and engagement are expected every day. To earn full credit:
• Wear sneakers and appropriate workout attire( a change of clothes and stick deodorant are encouraged).
• Follow all safety and behavior guidelines.
• Bring a personal combination lock for locker room use.
• Food and drinks are not allowed in the gym or locker rooms.
• Cell phones are prohibited in all PE spaces.
Attendance & Preparedness
• Arrive on time and be ready to participate. Tardiness or being unprepared( e. g., improper footwear) will result in the loss of participation points.
• Being unprepared cannot be made up for credit.
