Curriculum and Department Updates

English Language Arts

JFK seventh and eighth grade student writers attended the 14 th annual UConn Writing Center Conference on October 17th . These students will apply their learning about effective writing techniques and peer tutoring in class during writing units throughout the school year .

STEAM

Open to all 6th , 7th , and 8th graders - Invention Convention 2022-2023 !
Connecticut Invention Convention is a program that teaches students creative problem-solving through the process of invention . Students use the Engineering Design Process to identify a unique problem in their world , build a solution , document their journey , and present their invention to judges and the community .
JFK inventors must attend weekly meetings and must commit to Enfield ' s Invention Convention at JFK on Saturday , March 18 . Based on the results , students can then move on to state competition and even to National competition .

School Counseling Department

The JFK Guidance Department is excited to continue working with students as we progress through the year . As counselors work with their various grade-level teams , they support students in three primary domains : academic , career , and social-emotional development .
Counselors will continue to support students with their academic goals and interests , while also encouraging them to keep their future goals in mind . Additionally , counselors will be available to speak and meet with parents during Parent / Teacher Conferences being held on Wednesday , November 16 th and Tuesday , November 22 nd , which
