Q : for those who don ’ t know , who is Jackie Onassis ?
A : Jackie Onassis is Kai and Raph , two guys who went to school together who love music . Raph makes the beats , Kai does the vocals . Q : Tell me what has 2013 been like for you guys so far ? A : Really exciting , we ’ ve gone from putting out an EP for free on the internet by ourselves , to doing a national tour , playing festivals and heading over to the UK to play gigs . If you ’ d told me last year that we ’ d be we are now I wouldn ’ t have believed you !
Q : You guys were at Big Day Out this year , tell me about that experience ?
A : It was hot – like , hotter than hot . It was the hottest day in Sydney on record and the venue in Sydney is just all concrete . Our car was telling us the ground temperature was 53 degrees which is mental . But it was a great day – one of the first chance ’ s we ’ ve had to play to an all ages crowd and heaps of people turned out , young and old to check us . Then we basically spent the rest of the day watching bands – so yeah , great day .
Q : You guys go on tour August 1 tell me what places will you be visiting ?
A : We ’ re heading all over the place , from Queensland to Tassie to WA . We ’ ve done a few gigs in SA recently so we won ’ t be going there this tour , likewise Darwin , but other than that we ’ ve probably got a gig near you !
Q : What ’ s one of the most embarrassing things to happen to you while you ’ ve been on the road ? A : To be honest we haven ’ t really been touring enough to have anything super awkward happen to us … I mean , we have missed flights and stuff , but yeah , so far so good . Knowing us there will be a doosy soon .
Q : Did you ever anticipate you would have this much success on the back of your record Crystal Balling ?
A : No way – we literally put an EP out on the net for free . We “ announced ” it a week before it was released , and by announced I mean put a post on Facebook to basically our mates . We ’ re blown away by where it ’ s got us !

Q : Your new track Holiday is out now , tell me how that track came about ?
A : We were in the Blue Mountains mixing some tunes and staying in a little cottage out on the edge of the bush . We brought half our studio with us and set it up in the lounge room so that after a day of mixing we ’ d come back and make tunes – that ’ s where the beat and the concept was made for the track . When we got back to Sydney we thought that it would be great to get our good mates Spit Syndicate on it - they were feeling it so we made the track !
Q : When can we expect an album from Jackie Onassis ?
A : The album will be next year – we ’ re just finishing off a second EP right now , it ’ s called Juliette and we ’ ll have more information on its release very soon !
