WISDOM
Do not forget that G-d has only authorised you to tend creation and to keep it, but not to disturb
its orderly course of development through your own self-seeking. Do not forget this, and do not
try to interfere with this order by transferring forces inherent in one species to another species
distinct from it. That is why you have been forbidden to breed animals of different species, to
graft trees of diverse kinds, to mix different kinds of material such as linen and wool, and to cook
together foods of diverse kinds such as milk and meat. Rabbi SR Hirsch – Horev
TEXT: COMPILED BY LIZ SAMUELS
When you have a true ambition for something,
you will not give up hope. Giving up hope is a
sign that you are lacking ambition to achieve
that goal. Rabbi Eliyahu Dessler
People do not want to remain silent when
someone insults them because they are afraid others
might think they are weak and unable to answer back. The truth
is it takes much strength to remain silent when someone insults you. Revenge,
on the other hand, is a sign of weakness. A revenger lacks the necessary strength
of character to forgive. Rabbi Yerachmiel Shulman
No person sees all of his faults. Every
person considers himself righteous and
feels whatever he does is correct. For every
act a person does, he has a thousand
excuses and rationalisations. A person does
not see what goes against his prejudices.
Other people can be much more objective
about you and can find your wrongdoings
and faults. Hence, be willing to listen to
what an admonisher has to say. Dubner
Magid: Sefer Hemidos
A person who has emunah (faith) does not feel as much suffering from misfortunes as others might. His misfortunes serve as a
reminder he was not created merely for having pleasure in this world. He learns to focus on spiritual growth and this will put his
misfortunes in their proper perspective. Ohr Yechezkail: michtavim
