MONTH IN REVIEW APRIL 1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8 9 10 CRIME Seven arrested over robbery at Bournemouth jewellers Dorset Police has arrested seven people in relation to a reported armed robbery at a jewellers in Bournemouth. At around 12pm on Thursday 14 March 2019 Dorset Police received a report of a robbery at Franses Jewellers in Westover Road involving a number of men on two mopeds and a motorcycle. It was reported that one of the men was seen in possession of a Samurai sword. Nobody was injured during the incident, but a quantity of jewellery items were reportedly stolen. APPOINTMENTS Bonhams appoints Leslie Roskind as senior jewellery specialist The international auction house Bonhams has announced the appointment of Leslie Roskind as senior jewellery specialist. She takes up her new position with immediate effect, and will be based in Bonhams New York office. Roskind has been in the jewellery industry for more than 25 years and most recently in the retail and dealer sector working at Fred Leighton and at Windsor Jewels where she was responsible for the acquisition of jewels and selling to the firm’s private clients in the store and at trade shows. DIAMONDS Graff unveils ‘world’s largest’ square emerald cut diamond Multinational jeweller Graff has unveiled the world’s largest square emerald cut diamond, named the Graff Lesedi La Rona. The 302.37 carat gem is the largest highest colour, highest clarity diamond ever certified by the GIA, and according to the group required over 18 months of “meticulous craftsmanship” and marks an “historic moment” in diamond history.
