Watchmaker Breitling has removed
ads featuring women wearing ‘skimpy
outfits’ after receiving complaints
from customers.
n STAT OF THE MONTH
EXPANSION
Located on the island’s capital of
St. Helier, the store has been re-
opened with a new shop-fit. The
showroom itself has been situated on
the corner of Queen Street for almost
20 years, and lies within the main
shopping area.
As part of the revamped showroom,
customers will also able to explore
a variety of jewellery brands and
collections, from Jenny Packham
and Mappin & Webb. Jewellery
‘experts’ will be on hand in-store to
consult shoppers and offer specialist
customer service.
Craig Bolton, Goldsmiths executive
director, said: “It’s always a pleasure
to announce investment across our
showrooms and we are delighted to
unveil our new look Jersey store to the
public in the cultural and charming
coastal town of St. Helier.”
Jersey showroom manager Peter
Gow added: “The team and I are
excited to show off the results of the
refurbishment and additional branded
area to our familiar faces and hopefully
a new audience as well. As the only
Goldsmiths store on the island,
we’re proud to bring a unique retail
experience to Jersey and the very best
choice possible.”

Timex Group UK
further expands
its portfolio with
Kenneth Cole
Watches
Timex Group UK has further expanded
its watch brand portfolio with the
introduction of Kenneth Cole watches.
The 35-year-old New York fashion
brands’ designs are inspired by the city
it was founded in.
Duncan Harris, Timex sales and
marketing director, said: “We are
thrilled to be partnering with TWB
Investments to distribute the Kenneth
Cole watch brand in the UK and
Ireland.
“The brands’ iconic New York based
fashion heritage, together with its
modern design cues make it a perfect
addition to the growing Timex Group
portfolio of brands and we look forward
to building the brand and distribution
network with our key retail partners.”
Some of the adverts portrayed
“subservient women” acting as
ground support for male pilots flying
airplanes.
The group also came under fire
from customers for putting on a
display a female mannequin sitting on
a missile with its underwear clearly
visible at its Bluewater shopping
centre store in 2016.
The Swiss company is known for
creating watches with an aviation
theme and it’s adverts have variously
included scantily-clad women as
recently as 2015.
George Kern, CEO Breitling, said
he intervened after finding complaint
letters from people concerned about
some ads’ portrayal of women.
He said: “I stopped them
immediately. Some customers
thought they were funny. But such
clips were no longer suitable and do
not reflect values of today’s society.”
It’s always a pleasure to
announce investment
across our showrooms and
we are delighted to unveil
our new look Jersey store to
