KATHERINE ALEXANDRA BRUNNACI Jewellery designer and gemologist It’s a great time for wearing jewellery. Necklines are lower, shorter sleeves, sleeveless dresses etc. The summer months lift the spirit, consumers seek the outdoors, there is more socializing, more opportunity to wear that lovely piece of jewellery. Simple paired back clothing is enhanced by the wearing of jewellery. 16 JEWELLERY FOCUS ERIC RUSSACK JULIA WATSON Global vice president of Adore and Swarovski professional Founder and designer of Tribe+Fable Colour and style are key factors that change with the season when it comes to jewellery preference. Consumers opt for more vibrant, colourful stones with delicate styling to accessorise with lighter outfits. Adore’s spring/summer season features sophisticated rose gold-plated pieces adorned with Indian-Sapphire crystals from Swarovski, the perfect complement to summer wardrobes. I think consumer attitudes toward jewellery change slightly during the summer months but this is of course market sensitive as well. For example, an ornate, dark-coloured piece may sometimes look at odds against a white, loose-fitting dress but then again if you have a summer event, a wedding or even for a Middle Eastern market, large, elaborate, statement pieces can look a lot better.
