IJL 2017 SHOW GUIDE P KRISTINA FERENCHUK Gold Nebula Ring Before doing BA Jewellery course at Central Saint Martin’s, I did a BA in Management at University of Lausanne in Switzerland. I have always experienced a need to make and create which I definitely inherited from my mother and my BA in Jewellery Design at CSM really helped me to develop my own style and way of working. All my pieces are handcrafted by me, because I love making and working with precious materials. Through making of my own work, I am able to technically develop moving parts and mechan isms. This opens up many more possibilities for future designs. I experience a personal satisfaction when I am able to oversee the whole process of design development to the final outcome and most importantly get a tangible result that has weight, meaning and future life My jewellery is a romantic interpretation of the universe. I am particularly interested in the fact that everything in the universe is interconnected and continuously changing. All the pieces are articulated and move in an interconnected manner. Whether the pieces are on or off the body, I want to engage the wearer in the magical process of playful creation of their own interpretation of the piece. I want the wearer to experience the pieces, spark curiosity and Gold Nebula Ring: Materials: 18 carat Yellow Gold with Precious Stones: Green Tourmaline, Citrine, Garnet. As a Chinese student born in Britain, my perspective as a young designer has come to appreciate the clash and harmony between the two cultures and how they have affected me as a citizen. My focal point has always been my curiosity of what it means to be considered a British citizen, therefore I like to use the stereotypical objects of the two and add my playful, creative outlook onto them -causing them to become more valuable than they should be. My collections has a playful yet powerful outcome of difference between the two cultures I live by.
