Question 1
Why did you decide to enter
the medical industry?
I decided to enter the medical industry mainly because I love helping people. When you're a health professional you can help people in so many ways - your can give the medicine, you can listen to their problems and offer solutions, you can fix problems with
treatments like surgery and physical therapy. Luckily, I get to do all of that in my work as a Podiatrist!
Question 2
Did you find studying bones
hard?
The actual study at University wasn't too hard, but it was allot of information! To understand how the body works, you have to study every part of it from the cells to the bones and every process and system in between. To keep things interesting, I've also studied
Wound Healing and Dermatology, which means I've studied in total for about 8 years! So guess I don't find study that hard because I enjoy it so much.
I've
been a Podiatrist now for over 13 years.
Questions 4
What is something interesting
you came across in your years being a foot doctor?
I'm
lucky because I get to see so many different things everyday! Some of the more interesting things I've seen are:
A
young boy getting a piece of schach (palm leaf) stuck in his foot
An
x-ray showing that a lady had a sowing needle stuck between her foot bones for 50 years
A
man how had a very pain pimple under his foot which turned out to be his hair getting stuck between his skin
A
man having numb feet because he tied his laces too tight
a
lady with 6 toes on each foot
Question 5
If you had to do a different
job, what would it be?
It's
hard to know because I love what I do and I've done it for so long, but I think I'd probably be a writer.
Question 8
At what age did you start
doing the podiatry course?
I
started working as a Podiatrist at 23.
Question 9
On
the average
day how many patients would you have?
A
typical day is anywhere between 6 and 20 patients depending on how many hours I'm working. Per year I perform about 2,500 treatments, that means so far in my career I've performed over 30,000 treatments! That's allot of feet!
