Vintage Vogue Named after the fabled book of travels by Marco Polo, Il Milione Bar &
Ristorante Italiano has opened in Hong Kong as the first restaurant in the region by Michelin-starred Umbrian chef, Marco Gubbiotti. Promoting the slow food movement as well as the ingredients indigenous to his native Umbria, Gubbiotti works with small producers and uses slow cooking techniques to retain an authenticity often missing from other Italian restaurants in the city. More than just an elegant restaurant, Il Milione has already made a name for itself for its lavish cocktail bar, manned by renowned mixologist Giancarlo Mancino. Gin Joint A first for Hong Kong, local star bartender Antonio Lai has teamed up with Charlene Dawes to open their newest creation, an ode to gin. Origin is located close to the duo’ s other watering holes – Angel’ s Share and Quinary – and is dedicated to a spirit which has been demonized and immortalized over centuries. Known for his love of molecular mixology, Lai brings a whole new dimension to classic gin drinks like the gin and tonic, with 12 unique infusions – including lemongrass, basil, orange, and grapefruit – created using a rotary evaporator and a water bath and vacuum.
