An evolution of the GranTurismo S and S Automatic, and positioned between the GranTurismo and GranTurismo MC, Maserati’ s new two-door GranTurismo Sport improves on Maserati’ s tradition of offering rich sporting character and high performance while also delivering comfort for four adults with effortless elegance and sophistication.
Maserati lovers will see definite hints of the MC Stradale in the Sport’ s DNA, but noticeable enhancements make this model unique. The chromed trident with red accents takes pride of place at the centre of the grille: a detail always reserved for the most powerful Maseratis, in keeping with tradition of the marque. Side skirts are also standard on the GranTurismo Sport, which increase its aerodynamic efficiency, along with enlarged side grilles to extract hot air from the engine bay. At the rear, the GranTurismo Sport also adopts a 20 percent darker tint for its tail lamp covers, while new lighting technology includes new Daytime Running Light LED technology, which track steering wheel movement by 15 degrees. The effect is an elegant yet aggressive coupe that’ s not to be missed – or messed with – on or off the track.
There are also distinctive enhancements to be found within the stylish cockpit. Sportier‘ hugging’ seats with integrated headrests and a new flat-bottomed steering wheel have helped redefine the GranTurismo’ s sporty persona. New interior details in EcoChrome grey and Poltrona Frau leather upholstery sit alongside stand-out existing features, such as the gearshift paddles on the steering wheel and the aluminium pedals. Standard perks include a Bose sound system with satellite radio, iPod connectivity, and a parking warning system, while interior options include faux-suede headliner, red contrasting seat stitching, trident-logo headrest stitching, piano black interior trim, blue anodized brake calipers, and grey paint for the 20- inch aluminium wheels.
Designed to stand out in the coupe market with aerodynamically efficient design upgrades derived from the MC Stradale, the GranTurismo Sport is capable of sprinting to 100km / h in only 4.7 seconds and reaching 300km / h on the trot, thanks to the latest evolution of Maserati’ s all-alloy, 4.7-litre V8 engine, boasting 338kW( 460CV) of power, which, combined with a six-speed or electro-actuated transmission, affords a spacious and elegant yet robust driving experience. Both transmissions are faster than the out-going GranTurismo S, thanks to a thoroughly modern engine design and sophisticated engine software which lifts power by up to 20CV and torque by up to 30Nm with no fuel consumption or emissions penalties.
The GranTurismo Sport has been engineered to give its occupants greater comfort than ever before, while also providing even more responsiveness in performance driving. Delivering a superb ride as well as extreme sporting grip and handling, it gives the GranTurismo Sport an all-round ability found in few sports coupes. To achieve this, it uses Sport Skyhook damping, the latest evolution of Maserati’ s damping control system. Sport Skyhook constantly adapts the GranTurismo Sport’ s damping to suit the road surface beneath its tyres. Combined with a 12 percent(+ 2mm) thicker rear stabilizer bar, the Sport Skyhook system can increase the GranTurismo Sport’ s vertical stiffness by 10 percent in Sport mode, one of five transmission modes. www. maseratigranturismosport. com www. jetsetter. hk
