At any given time, I was coaching at least 2 and possibly three teams of T-Ball or baseball. As an American in Australia, people naturally assumed that I knew everything about baseball. Fortunately, I knew enough to coach. But early on, when I coached T-Ball, there were some issues. Each time we played an organized competitive game, the president of the T-Ball Association would always come up to me prior to the game. He would tell me that in Australia, they play to just have fun and winning was not important. I told him, each and every time, I will initially play the kids to win and put the strong players in the key positions. Once we have a suitable lead, I will rotate all the players so everyone gets a chance. I also told him that kids on my team never complained about winning. And win we did.
