The wrong airport
After traveling nearly 25 hours from Perth in September 2012 to a beach town near Los Angeles called Marina Del Rey, I was finally at my favored restaurant( Baja Cantina) drinking a margarita grande and eating a fabulous seafood tostada. It didn’ t matter that it was my breakfast time in Perth, it was 6:00 pm in LA. But this was a special meal as I was dining with my sister Linda, her husband Pete and their daughter and my niece Meghann. Linda and Pete had flown out from Virginia to visit Meghann because she was competing in a sporting event that had participants running from Malibu to who knows where. My niece had moved to the upscale town of Manhattan Beach just minutes from LA airport.
My final destination was Washington DC to attend a molecular diagnostics conference. But I was a few days early for the conference and I had the chance to spend some time with my other niece Nicole, her husband Brad and their two lovely children Brooke and Troy at their home in Virginia very near Dulles Airport. We really had quite a bit of fun as we went to the National Zoo, apple picking and to a farm where we took a nice hike through the woods. I feel more comfortable with children than adults as I must be a man child that never grew up. Kids always amaze me and I fully enjoy their presence.

The conference was great and highly informative about personalized medicines and molecular diagnostic tests. The speakers were the highest in their fields but there were some very long days that sometimes went into the night for dinner presentations.
After the conference, I visited Linda and Pete in Virginia and we played some golf and had some great meals. They then took me to the airport for me to travel to Kansas City to meet Dr Richard Lipscombe as we were visiting a client for a couple of days. Linda and Pete drove me to Dulles Airport and I gave them hugs and went to check in and they said that I was at the wrong airport and I needed to get to National Airport. I panicked and called Linda and they turned around, picked me up and drove me. It was super stressful trying to get through security when you are in a hurry but I did it and the rest of the business trip went smooth as did the return flight to Perth.
