After a few days, we headed south to Anchorage and the fall

Photo by Barry Epstein in that short time. We stopped at creeks and lakes during the scenic drive to take so many photographs. We were originally scheduled to drive North to Fairbanks to go back to my university but we could not synchronize the flights back to Seattle. Just outside of Anchorage, we discovered a historical transportation museum that housed some extraordinary antique cars, trucks, trains and planes. Mimi saw my face light up when we saw the sign for the turnoff as I really seem to have enjoyed shooting rusty vehicles over the years. This outdoor museum was the Holy Grail of rust.
As we flew out of Anchorage to Seattle, we could see some of the mountain ranges that we had traveled and although we were quite high in the sky, we could vividly remember the wondrous events from this Alaskan trip. We vowed to return and see more soon. We then stayed with my good friend Don Parker in his Seattle condominium and he took us all around this beautiful city including a quick ferry ride to beautiful Bainbridge Island. Don turned out to be an extraordinary chef and he made us the absolute best meal that we had eaten on the entire journey that we will remember always. It was seafood gumbo that was filled with all kinds of fresh seafood in a spicy sauce.
Mimi and I traveled to Las Vegas on the final leg of this amazing trip. From 2-3 star themed log cabins on the tops of mountains to five star hotel facilities. What a clear Yin Yang contrast and what an experience. We had always believed that Las Vegas was a bad place but we experienced the complete opposite. Our friend, Alan Khoo, had organized some incredible show tickets for us to see Cirque due Soleil famous“ O” show at the Bellagio Hotel and other shows and dinners and best of all this was all for free. Fantastic entertainment that we will remember forever. To top off everything, Qantas upgraded us, without charge, to business class on the A380 return flight to Sydney!
