and he said he enjoyed it quite a bit and that we should have gone. Fortunately, we were then able to attend the third wedding function held in a very upscale venue in Singapore. The party was great and Claire looked so very beautiful. We were so happy to have been able to share this moment with her and Brendan. They had a great live band and large dance floor in a posh venue.

It was noted that Mimi walked into the wedding with a cane to aid her bad knees, but once the music started, she threw the cane away and danced the night away! A couple times a year we also get to see Brendan’ s side of the family including his very nice parents, his charming sister, her very successful and down to earth husband who owns some serious cool cars and watches and their two lovely daughters that we have been fortunate to see them grow up over the years.

Alison has visited us in Perth a couple of times and we were able to show her some of the sights. On her first trip to Perth, she brought her oldest daughter Lisa and they stayed with us. One morning I told them that I was going to take them on a sightseeing tour and to wear something comfortable. The first stop was down the road at the famous Cottesloe beach with the iconic Indiana Tearooms. We walked on the beach for awhile and then I asked Alison to sit on the sand for me to take a photo with the building in the background. She refused to sit on the sand and squatted down. I said firmly to sit on the sand and she again refused. She told me that her jeans were too expensive and she didn’ t want to ruin them! I couldn’ t believe this and kept trying to convince her that this is what we do in Australia and that the dry, fine, white sand will not ruin her pants but again she refused. So, while she was still squatting, I gently pushed her over, using only one finger, and she then had no choice!
By the way, her pants did not get ruined! Alison and Lisa did like the tour I took them on that included South Perth and Fremantle. Alison came out again a couple of years later with Megan, her youngest daughter and it was great to spend some time with her as we shared photography interests. But I had the same issue with Alison unable to sit on the same beach for a photo opportunity!
