“Global warming is giving a huge damage to the earth,” Dr. Giles Sioen said. He also discussed the causes of global warming. “The ever-changing social and economic state of the world, of which the majority of people live in cities (55%), has an enormous impact on the planet.”

Increasing the number of people in cities causes a corresponding rise in CO2 emissions, which trap solar radiation, further heating the planet. Dr.Sioen showed delegates the increased CO2 levels, and the corresponding observed change in average surface temperature from 1901 to 2012.

That map told the average temperature of surface increased around 1.0 to 2.5 degrees. Both land and oceans are warmer now than before.

However, the increasing temperature is not the only one reason that humans need to be afraid. He gave some examples of impacts on the planet. The other thing to think about is increasingly intense cyclones.

“Now it is increasing in Intense Tropical Cyclones. Significant global increases in cyclones with maximum wind speed of 175km per hour or higher.” He said “still the world is possible to change to avoid disasters. For that, people need to get together for solving problems. We have to see from the bottom of the system like biosphere, the ocean, and green nature."

“For improving those, we need to raise awareness. By educating young children, we can change the world better in the future.
