Beyond the Meetings

From 6:15 to 7:45, participants had time to eat breakfast. There was staff who collected meal tickets and guided people to the dining space on the 4th floor. The breakfast was a buffet style. There were two selections of buffet tables with Japanese and American dishes: rice, bread, fried fish, scrambled eggs, miso soup, and others. Also, they served fresh apple, orange, and grapefruit juice.

Comments from participants about the breakfast at the hotel included:

“It’s delicious, and there were lots of choices. The fruit punch was the best.”

“If there were seasonings for rice, it would be better.”

“I’m not satisfied with it. I noticed that there was no halal food.”

“It would have been better if there were more choices for people who have allergies or vegetarian food.”

“It was not very eco-friendly. The jam and butter were in the plastic containers.”

There were 4 buses taking participants to the hotel from the conference, and the capacity of each bus was approximately 40 people. It took about 30 minutes to get to the hotel by bus. The buses leave at 8 A.M. in the morning, and take participants to the hotel at 8 P.M. at night. The JEMUN staff announced that buses do not wait for people who are late. If they are late, they have to take a train by themselves.

Comments from participants about their bus rides throughout the conference:

“The ride was fun with friends, happy with the grouping.”

“Takes too long to get to the hotel, so I could get enough sleep.”

“I got carsick a little bit.”

“It was comfortable, there was no problem. I slept well and felt refreshed.”
