Sharing her experience, Mizuki said her mentor Jay Hartwell has given her a lot of advice and suggestions on how to preparation for a conference.

Mizuki and Jay’s only form of contact was via emails.

“It probably wasn’t the best way of communicating with your mentor, but it all worked out. Jay corrected my resume and gave feedbacks on the articles that I have sent him,” Mizuki said.

JEMUN Journalism was the beginning of it all. Following her passion to be in the media world, Mizuki believes this conference has opened a great opportunity for her to learn and develop her skills in dealing with media and journalism itself.

"Involved in an international conference is a challenging and at the same time is a wonderful experience,” Mizuki said.

“JEMUN brings out the best of you. It gives many challenges but also trains you on how to handle complex things, to become a better person,”

Mentoring as described by Mizuki is all about opening up yourself to others, and to share by giving tips and feedback. Based on her experience with Jay Hartwell, mentoring should be done in the most effective way although it may be hard sometimes, but the point is to share and giving opportunities to others.

“Because the best goal of this conference is to inspire others through mentoring, learning, and opening up to others,” Mizuki said.

As the Journalist Room Manager for JEMUN 2019, Mizuki is hoping to see that everyone involved will be satisfied and grow as a person.
