JEMUN is the only MUN conference in Japan to offer high school students with an opportunity to participate alongside more than 200 experienced university participants. At the 2017 JEMUN conference, 64 high school students from eight different high schools from within Japan and abroad, simulated country ambassadors and journalists to learn about international issues and develop their collaboration, critical thinking, creativity and communication skills.

The high school students representing countries from around the world worked together in four different committees to develop solutions to their meeting room topic, Achieving Accessible Tourism. Through lively discussions and negotiations, these solutions were compiled into four draft resolutions and finally passed as resolutions after a number of amendments were adopted.

Eleven of the 64 high school students covered all of the events that unfolded in meeting room five in eight different journalism roles. All of the student journalists experienced the rewards of collaborative reporting and polished their digital media skills with the help of professional JEMUN journalism advisors.

All of the high school students joined the university students at the opening ceremony and welcome party. This allowed them to establish an early connection with their upperclassmen and gain valuable advice for their future studies. Priceless interactions at a priceless conference!

The high school students at JEMUN 2017 experienced the FUN of MUN and will definitely be back again for JEMUN 2018!
