“ I never will forget this and it kind of sealed the deal for me ,” Shawn said . “ Captain ( Steve ) Case got off that truck with the hose and went into that building that was fullyinvolved like it was nothing . I was like , ‘ Wow , that is cool ,’ and that kind of sparked my interest for the fire department .”
Shawn said he showed an interest in public service pretty early on in life and his father always served as a mentor to him , and that ’ s part of the reason he thinks public service runs in families .
