Summer
The morning sunlight brushed my eyes , a thousand birds , a thousand cries , All seemed to say , ‘ Arise , Arise ”, it is a sin , a shame , a crime , To sleep away the Summer Time
I looked around but you weren ’ t here , I missed your laughter ringing clear , Your eyes , your hair , your lips so dear , all these have fled and left for me , An aching heart , a memory
The tears , the sadness blind my eyes , my ears are deaf to joyful cries , Of birds who sing , ‘ Arise , Arise ”, when you ’ re away there is no sun , My heart ’ s asleep , my senses dumb
But when again you come to me , I ’ ll waken from this sleep and see , The laughing sun , the smiling skies , my heart will hear and join the cries , Of birds who sing , ‘ Arise , Arise ”, for when you ’ re here it is a crime , To sleep away the Summer Time Walter , AVO
