Our Recreation Department offers a wide variety of individual and team sports , as well as instructional classes for children , youth mental , emotional and social development in a competitive setting . Good sportsmanship and safety are always emphasized !
Futsal / Indoor Soccer
Futsal is a small-sided soccer game ( typically 5 v 5 ) on a hard surface about the size of a basketball court . Futsal uses a modified ball that has less bounce than a typical soccer ball and small goals to match the size of the pitch . This format allows for a fun , fast-paced game full of creativity and improvisation for all abilities .
Our very own Ben Tiner will be running the Futsal / Indoor Soccer programs ! Ben has been playing soccer his entire life and has been coaching for over 10 years . Ben currently coaches for the Richmond Kickers and actively plays on a premier team in the Central Virginia Soccer Association league , where he also serves on the board .
Futsal for Adults
Instructor : Ben Tiner Grades : 18 + 8-week session
Ben will run a 45-minute clinic where he will teach all participants about the game , strategies , techniques , and drills that will help hone your skills and make the game enjoyable for all . The clinic will be followed by organized scrimmages in which we will provide the futsal balls and goals . Participants are welcome to come for both the clinic and / or the scrimmages . Futsal / Indoor Soccer For Kids
Instructor : Ben Tiner & Sports and Rec Staff Grades : K-5 8-week session
Ben and staff will run a 30-minute clinic in which participants will be taught the basics of futsal and indoor soccer . We will focus on learning the rules of the game , basic skills , and strategies . The clinic will be followed by a 30-minutes scrimmage . Children in our Kids ’ Place program are encouraged to participate .

Preschool Gymnastics
Ages : 4-6 years old 8-week session
In this class , children will be introduced to the joy of body movement and awareness through gymnastics , fitness exercises , and educational motor development games . Children will develop flexibility , strength , coordination , and balance .
Weinstein JCC preschool students are encouraged to participate . A Weinstein JCC employee will meet our preschoolers in preschool and walk them to and from this program . A great way to give half-day preschool parents to extend their day before pick up .
