TD Bank Group has long been a supporter of Joseph Brant Hospital , and their generous support continues with a donation of $ 100,000 to our Child & Adolescent Psychiatric ( CAP ) Clinic through the TD Ready Commitment – Better Health .
Our CAP Clinic is providing innovative solutions to respond to the growing need for mental health and addictions services in our community and beyond .
The CAP Clinic provides youth with direct and timely access to a full spectrum of mental health services including assessment , treatment and aftercare – who have a variety of behavioral , mood , anxiety , substance abuse , psychosis and developmental disorders .
The clinic is essential and innovative as it leverages partnerships to ensure a seamless journey of care for the adolescent and family , which eliminates wait times , avoids an escalation of one ’ s illness and puts less stress on our emergency services . It provides early intervention to youth and supports a faster integration back to home and school , resuming routines and positive experiences that will further enhance their resiliency and recovery .
Since its expansion in 2013 , CAPS has seen a 400 % increase in referrals , and patient access to a child and adolescent psychiatrist has increased by 310 %.
Thanks to support through the TD Ready Commitment and other generous donors , the clinic continues to enhance services to support youth experiencing mental health concerns . This past year , the CAP Clinic has been able to increase the number of patient visits by 28 % - which has resulted in a continued decrease in wait times for referrals , assessment and treatments , and in the number of patients presenting to the Emergency Department for mental health issues and assessments .
