MOVID-19 Fundraiser
When the COVID-19 pandemic hit our region , Angelo Paletta and his wife Darlene wanted to show the hospital staff that their community stood with them and raise money to support the hospital ’ s response . And so , MOVID-19 began with Angelo refusing to shave until the community donated $ 25,000 , and Angelo and Darlene would match it .
The outpouring of support was incredible , and within four days their goal was reached and surpassed .
Angelo doubled down on his challenge , raising the goal to $ 100,000 with another $ 25,000 from him and Darlene .
The Call to COVID ended with a total raised of $ 153,800 – and a much happier Darlene when Angelo finally shaved .
All funds went directly to Joseph Brant Hospital to obtain Personal Protective Equipment ( PPE ), additional equipment and all things related to direct patient care and support of frontline staff .
Not only did their fundraiser show the remarkable generosity of the Paletta family , but the entire community who took action in support of Joseph Brant Hospital during the COVID-19 pandemic .
