Authors visit JBCN International - Katie Bagli
“It was a great pleasure for me to do the Book Reading in your school. The children's enthusiasm
was joyfully overwhelming I enjoyed every bit of my time in the school.” This is what Katie Bagli,
nature lover and author, had to say about our learners.
Katie Bagli visited our school on 23rd August, and met learners of grades 5, 6 & 7. The author
presented an interesting puppet show concerning nature. The learners were very interested and
attentive. She had a read aloud from one of her books. Learners questioned her about her interest in
writing nature-related short stories, to which she explained that her love for nature prompted her
to write nature fiction.
Katie Bagli was taken up by the energy level of the learners.
Learners were proud to purchase specially autographed books written by Katie. The Learner Resource Centre has a signed copy
Authors visit JBCN International - Sonja Chandrachud
A stimulating session was organized on the 25th of September with author Sonja
Chandrachud, who is better known as the “Desi Rowling'. She promoted her latest book,
“Trouble at Taj” which is a historical fiction book. She had an interactive session with
learners of grades 5, 6 & 7.
The objective was to show the learners that history is not as 'boring' as it is believed to be.
Through a stirring Powerpoint Presentation, she showed learners how history is full of plots,
plans, conspiracies and mysteries, to name some. She also stimulated learners to use their
knowledge of history to form the background of a story while writing. Learners were very
excited to answer history questions related to the Mughal dynasty. Gauging by their rapt attention, it was evident that the
learners were amazed with her inputs. History had never before seemed as interesting as a paperback novel!
The author was overwhelmed with the learners' responses.. The Learner Resource Centre was gifted 3 signed copies of her book
'Trouble at Taj.’
