A Letter From Sydney

You did it. You are graduating high school. This probably doesn’t seem like a huge accomplishment since it’s only a high school diploma, but you made it. We met 7 years ago, and you were just a shy, blonde kid from some other state that I couldn’t remember. The way our lives kept intersecting and everything that made us comes back to together. From the theater tournaments we still won’t talk about, to the after school “talks” where we both were too awkward to even hug. We were young, and had no idea where life would take us.

Flash forward to this point: the end of our senior year. You were on our high school drum line and I was in that stupid group of spirited seniors. We had a music class together and for some reason, the teacher even liked you. Yeah, you. For some reason we though it’d be a good idea to work together, but luckily had managers who put up with us. And the best part, we stayed together for the majority of high school. Every day since June 8th, 2011.

Look, I don’t know where we’ll be in a year, two years, and even 7 months from now. But I thank God for every day I’ve spent with you. Every memory, every tear, and every laugh. Every moment we shared meant the world to me, and that’s why you’re not just my boyfriend; you are my best friend.

Love,

Sydney
